Skype has worked out a deal with MySpace to offer one-click calling for users through the social network’s instant messaging service. While financial terms of the deal were not disclosed, it has been revealed that no advertising revenue will be shared between MySpace and Skype. Unlike the regular Skype service, access through MySpace doesn’t require a Skype software download.

The one-click calling option is free for users when they’re both at their computers. Any fees for calls to and from land lines and mobile phones will be split between MySpace and Skype. Why pay for users’ phone calls? It’s a good promotional effort for both MySpac and Skype.

Free phone calls to regular phones? Sure, why not? Both MySpace and Skype are in a position to regain a bit of brand awareness, as Facebook has begun to gain on the very concept of online social networking that MySpace had a stronghold on for so long. And Skype is still facing backlash from its downtime earlier this year, as well as criticism for eBay’s admitting that it overpaid for the VoIP service, which former Skype CEO Niklas Zennstrom agreed with. Zennstrom has since resigned, causing more speculation over the stability of Skype as a brand.

And this isn’t the only place Skype is offering free calls. It’s just worked out a deal with 3, the parent company of 3G, for free service over wireless phones in the UK. With all the free stuff going around, like Webwag on SFR in France and the BBC’s iPlayer on the Cloud Network in the UK, it’s good to see some of the freeness coming over to the US. This isn’t the only instance in recent weeks that MySpace and eBay have succeeded in becoming best of friends. PayPal is now available for MySpace non-profit profiles, so that they may accept donations from site visitors.
